Leeds loan star’s father hits back at Elland Road crowd on Sunday

Weston McKennie’s father hit back at Leeds United supporters after the crowd reacted to the midfielder’s substitution on Sunday.

In Leeds’ final game of the season, where they lost 4-1 to Tottenham, the fans showed hostility when the American was subbed off.

The crowd reportedly chanted ‘You fat bastard’ as he went to the dugout.

McKennie’s father, John, also had this to say about the incident:

“All the best to LUFC! For those who supported Weston in a hostile environment you have my respect! For those who failed to remember it’s a team sport you live to fight another day.🙏🏾”

As for McKennie, there is reportedly no chance of Leeds and Juventus coming to an agreement after the loan ends. Fabrizio Romano had this to say on Twitter:

“Leeds United will not trigger buy option clause for Weston McKennie, as it was going to be automatically activated in case of Premier League football next season for €34m. 🚨⚪️🇺🇸 #LUFC

McKennie will return to Juventus in the summer.”

The Whites have officially been relegated to the Championship after finishing 19th in the Premier League.

Sorry Pops. But you cannot have a go at the fanbase. Your son has been a complete disaster from minute one. Somebody actually said he was a footballer. He does well to keep that secret to himself then. Glad to see the back of him tbh. And what the fans were chanting…hand on heart… could you not agree?
