Leeds United are now virtually certain to secure Premier League survival after reaching the 43-point mark, leaving them in a strong position to remain in the top flight for another season.
With safety looking increasingly likely, the club have already begun putting plans in place for the summer transfer window and are assessing many potential targets ahead of the end of the campaign.
Unlike last summer, a major squad overhaul is not expected at Elland Road, although Leeds are still aiming to strengthen several key areas before the start of the 2026/27 season.
The Whites are keen to add to their forward line and are aware that they need to bring in a striker to share the load of goalscoring with Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Leeds emerge as favourites to sign Juventus striker Lois Openda
Lois Openda has struggled in Italy this season, and Juventus are prepared to listen to offers for the striker in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Leeds have been tabs on the forward, and he is one of the targets the club want to pursue as they look to improve their forward line ahead of the new season.
The Whites have been gradually working on a deal to sign him, and a move has been gathering pace behind the scenes.
According to Football Insider, Leeds are now the favourites to sign the Juventus striker in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Leeds are now pushing towards completing a very expensive deal to take the forward to Elland Road on a potential loan-to-buy agreement in the coming months.
Juventus are keen to offload him, and it has been claimed that the Whites are prepared to make a significant financial commitment, including offering Openda top wages, to move to Leeds.
Leeds believe they can get the best of a striker who has struggled to maintain the standards he set when he scored 41 goals and 14 assists across 90 appearances during his two years with RB Leipzig.
The Italian giants signed him on loan with an obligation to buy for a fee worth £35m last summer. They are ready to move him on in the coming months.
The Whites need to provide some help to Calvert-Lewin
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has played an important part in helping Leeds edge closer to Premier League survival, which they now look set to secure in the coming weeks.
However, his recent form has also underlined that Leeds cannot depend on him to provide goals consistently at this level over a full season.
With survival looking likely, the club will need to sign a striker who can offer more, whether that means competing alongside Calvert-Lewin or eventually replacing him in the starting XI next season.
Leeds know they cannot stand still. To keep progressing, they need a more reliable and clinical goalscorer who can make a bigger difference in crucial moments.
