The FIFA international break is over and the Championship have a marquee clash right out of the gate between Burnley and Leeds United on Saturday at Elland Road.
Both clubs are in the top six after four matches as the two sides look to secure all three points to keep pace with Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion, who currently occupy the automatic promotion spots.
Leeds are unbeaten so far this 2024-25 season with two wins and two draws while Burnley have two wins, one draw, and one loss. It’s a decent start out of the gate, but a win for either side will be a confidence booster for this month.
Jayden Bogle: Leeds will be up for the fight
Ahead of the matchup, Leeds newcomer Jayden Bogle spoke to LUTV to preview his team coming up against the Clarets. The 24-year-old spotlighted the home crowd advantage they will have as he hopes that supporters play a role in this match.
“The club’s massive and what it means to the fans on a match day, when you’re walking out, the noise and the support is crazy,” Bogle said on his early experiences of playing at home.
“That gives you that motivation to go and try and perform for them and that extra bit of motivation to go and pick up all three points. I’ve really enjoyed playing with the boys, really enjoyed playing in front of the fans, and yeah, I’m just excited to keep going.”
The defender noted that the squad will be prepared for the matchup, understanding the early stakes as The Whites look to stay on pace with Sunderland, West Brom, and Watford as the three clubs are ahead of them in the Championship standings.
“It’ll be a good game as well [against Burnley], and I think we’ll make sure that we’re on it and we’re up for the fight,” Bogle added. “I think that’s the big thing in rival games. The baseline is having that fight and that spirit to not concede and then try and push to go and win the game.”
The game on Saturday should be exciting as the two clubs are rivals for promotion, which makes these three points more valuable.
