It seems like the first meeting between Fulham and Leeds United was just a week ago. Their initial meeting ended in a 1-0 defeat, but the aftermath was the main talking point.
Daniel Farke decided to try something new on his visit to London, rolling out a new look front three. Leeds dominated proceedings for most of the season but could not take their chances.
Marco Silva took the opportunity to capitalize when he brought on impact substitutes. The game was eventually won when Gabriel Gudmundsson scored a freak own goal late in the game.
Fulham had a bit of a rough patch since then, but Silva has steadied the ship. Very similar to what is going on at Leeds United with Farke leading the team to an incredible unbeaten run at the end of December.
Fulham still without key players ahead of Leeds United clash
This weekend’s clash could end up being much different considering where both sides are now. Fulham will be without their key trio of Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Samu Chukwueze who are still on international duty at the African Cup of Nations.
Despite that, Marco Silva’s side has been in great form; the are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions and have won four of them. Rodrigo Muniz is still out, while Joshua King and Kenny Tete are doubts for the game at Elland Road.
Leeds United have been in great form over the last month, and have only lost one game in their last seven. Daniel Farke had the opportunity to rest most of his team when he rotated in their FA Cup tie against Derby County on Sunday.
Harry Wilson could decide Saturday’s clash
Harry Wilson has been in fantastic form for the London club over the last few games. It was only a few weeks ago that he was giving an interview on his future.
Now, he is the club’s most in-form player with 11 goal contributions (six goals, five assists) since the end of November.
The attacking midfielder could have easily ended up as a Leeds player on deadline day, but Fulham pulled the plug at the last minute. Leeds were desperate to sign an attacker at the tail end of the summer window and missed out on a lot of big names. Some fans will be dreading missing out on signing the Welsh international who could have given the club a huge boost this campaign.
