The transfer window has been shut and now Leeds United are deep into their start to the season. One talking point behind the scenes revolves around the future of Daniel Farke.

But that noise has been drowned out following the start to the season by the team.

After their huge win at Elland Road, the club have lost just one game this season. Leeds are unbeaten in the Premier League despite facing Nottingham Forest, Brighton, Brentford and Newcastle.

This year has seen them have a much better start than they did when they were promoted last season.

In their first four games last year, Leeds had won one game in four. This season, they have two wins and two draws in the competition.

Daniel Farke’s contract has been a major topic of discussion since the end of last season.

Farke made it a point to speak bluntly on his future at Elland Road, touching on what he wanted the club to do in the summer. And the 49ers delivered for the most part in the transfer window.

Former Leeds man Aidy White has said on BBC Radio Leeds that the club stalling on a new contract could backfire.

“I probably think the club’s quietly confident that [they are] maybe close to something or are heading on the right path.

“Daniel Farke seems like that guy; if he gives you his word, he seems like the guy that probably not going to turn back on it.

“The talks and getting him signed up would be amazing.

“Obviously, the longer you leave it, the better he does, more interest comes.

“So it will nice to get it done quicker than later.”

Aidy White has a point

Daniel Farke has done such an incredible job at Elland Road since he took over.

Not only has he brought Leeds United back to the top flight, but in that period he has also revamped his own image. Previously, he was seen as a manager who could only promote clubs and be relegated in the same season.

But now, he has proven that with stable conditions and resources, he can build a team.

Leeds will eventually agree to details on the new contract, but the longer it delays, some teams might come sniffing around him.
