Less than 24 hours after Bielsa said any incomings were unlikely, Leeds are now reportedly in advanced talks to sign former target Dan James from Manchester United on a permanent deal.
Many will remember how close Dan James was to signing for Leeds back in January 2019. The deal was complete, Swansea had agreed to sell and James was at Elland Road and ready to sign, he had his picture taken with the Leeds shirt. Then internal politics on the Swansea end meant the deal couldn’t be confirmed, and James went to Manchester United the following summer.
But according to reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano, James could very well sign for Leeds for real this time. Romano claimed Leeds were ‘in advanced talks to sign Dan James from Manchester United on a permanent deal!’

Noa Lang rumours few days ago were ‘fake’ – never been close to Leeds in the last weeks.

Yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Burnley proved that Leeds are in desperate need of some depth. Klich and Firpo being out with Covid upset the whole balance of the squad, and with the only viable options off the bench being Jamie Shackleton and Tyler Roberts, Leeds need someone that can change the game from the bench.
With Ian Poveda going to Blackburn on loan, and Helder Costa seemingly being unable to produce at this level, Dan James is a signing that makes sense. One injury to Raphinha or Harrison would leave Leeds extremely light on the wing.
