Leeds in battle with Spanish Champions to sign 26-year-old left-back

It’s been no secret that Leeds United are currently in the market for a new left-back. They’ve been linked to a number of players from across Europe. However, it now seems they are ready to wrap up their man.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Leeds United are now favourites to sign Javi Galan of SD Huesca. The 26-year-old left-back has played over 50 games for Huesca over the last two seasons and has now caught the eye of Leeds United as they look to establish themselves as a force in the Premier League.

Despite being described as the current favourites to land the fullback by Mundo Deportivo, the deal could be put in jeopardy as two Spanish giants also caught the defender.

Sevilla are heavily pursuing a deal for Galan as they look to exploit the fact he only has a year remaining on his current contract. Also helping the logistics of the deal is the fact Huesca have no slipped out of La Liga leaving his release close at just 4 million euros.

There’s no doubt Galan has class and is deserving of top flight football whether that be in Spain or England with Leeds. Proving that point is the fact that the reigning Spanish Champions Atletico Madrid are also looking to snap up the defender.

However, despite the fact Galan has a chance to join one of the biggest clubs in Spain it appears that he’s now set for a move to Elland Road with plenty of other Spanish news outlets corroborating the notion that Leeds remain in pole position to land the left-back.
