Leeds in race for highly rated Belgian youngster

Leeds are said to be among several clubs in Europe keeping an eye on Standard Liege’s Nicolas Raskin.

The Belgian midfielder is out of contract in the summer, and Leeds are just one of nine clubs chasing his signature. Raskin is highly rated, with Leeds, Rangers, Marseille, Lille, Galatasaray, Fiorentina, Club Brugge, Genoa, and Barcelona interested. According to Belgian outlet Voetbal Nieuws, the youngster is keen on a move to England.

Raskin burst onto the scene as a teenager in 2020, starting 26 games for Liege as they finished 8th in the league. The midfielder has been ever present in the senior team, up until this season. Standard Liege sent Raskin to the second team because he failed to renew his contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Voetbal Nieuws report that Liege tried to sell the 21-year old to Club Brugge this summer to make a profit before his contract expired. Raskin is now looking to move, with the Premier League his preferred destination. Leeds United could sign him on a free transfer this summer.
