Leeds United have two pending free agents who can sign pre-contracts once the January transfer window opens in a couple of months. One of them is Junior Firpo, and as a stat shows, if the Whites lose him, it will be a massive blow to their attack.
Right now, unless there are undisclosed extension triggers, Firpo’s contract will end next June. Moreover, the player can sign a pre-contract once the January window opens in a couple of months.
Losing Firpo for nothing will also be a financial hit after paying between £10 million and £15 million to acquire him from Barcelona would be a significant setback. Furthermore, losing the 28-year-old will be a massive blow to their attack.

Last week, Leeds manager Daniel Farke commented on the futures of the two defenders. However, he noted that with so much ongoing in the summer window and the start of the 2024-25 Championship season, he hasn’t thought about the contract situations of Firpo and Sam Byram.
“If I’m honest, I haven’t thought about this scenario so far because it was such a difficult summer and we had to speak about other things,” Farke said at his press conference before the Cardiff City matchup. “There will be the time when we speak about the future.
“You also know how much I really rate Junior and Sam, how important they are for us. Also from their personality. When we speak about Junior, especially also the last game against Burnley, after a long travel, he also played a really good game.”
Since joining Leeds in 2021, Firpo has made 91 appearances for the Whites, scoring two goals and recording 13 assists. It will be interesting to see if Leeds can secure the player to a long-term contract or perhaps he wants to test free agency and begin a new chapter of his career somewhere else.
