No Leeds United fan is wishing Kalvin Phillips away, instead they are hoping he will stay at Elland Road for the rest of his future.
But, there comes a time when realism has to set in and people must understand that Phillips – as good as he is getting – will one day want to win trophies.
Having said that, Leeds already have a ready-made replacement lined up for the midfielder in the shape of academy star Nohan Kenneh.
Just a teenager aged 18, Kenneh models himself on Phillips as well as former Arsenal star Patrick Vieira.
“Currently I look up to Kalvin Phillips as (we) both play in a similar position, but I occasionally watch videos of Patrick Vieira for his qualities in midfield,” Kenneh said.
The Athletic’s Phil Hay once hailed the teenager as “supremely gifted”, and he’s capable of playing in holding midfield as well as further back in central defence.
So, whilst every Leeds fan and his dog are wanting Phillips to stay, the future does not look entirely bleak if that does occur.
