One of Victor Orta’s priorities this summer was the arrival of a new midfielder to provide their ranks with further depth. After failed attempts to bring in the likes of Conor Gallagher, Leeds United look set to move in on a new target.
According to reports, Leeds have made a move for Manchester City midfielder Yangel Herrera. Herrera hasn’t been given much of a chance under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad but the 23-year-old has impressed for Granada whilst on loan in Spain.
The midfielder was trusted with 32 appearances in La Liga last season even contributing with four goal involvements.
MOT Leeds News reported that the Whites are ready to pay £20.4 million for the Venezuelan international. However, they will have to fend off Spanish Champions Atletico Madrid if they want to secure his services. Nonetheless, a report from El Gol Digital says Leeds is his most likely destination.
Thus, it seems like Orta’s search for a new midfielder could soon be over.
