Following the departure of Kiko Casilla this week, Leeds have begun working to bring in a replacement to provide cover and competition for Illan Meslier in goal.
It now seems Leeds United have identified their number one target and have even made their first move to secure a new goalkeeper.
According to the Football Insider, Leeds have had a bid rejected for Newcastle midfielder Freddie Woodman. The 24-year-old shot-stopper is one of three potential targets Leeds have identified as Casilla’s replacement according to reports.
Newcastle rejected the initial bid but it’s more than possible that Leeds will come back again with an improved offer. However, there are doubts over whether Woodman would be happy as Meslier’s number two.
He recently impressed with Swansea making nearly 100 appearances for the Welsh club since joining on loan in 2019.
