Leeds man asks fans for patience after seven-game goal drought

Daniel Farke has overseen a very low scoring season from Leeds United so far. But fans must understand that there were a lot of moving parts from last year till now.

Especially during the summer pre-season camp, where key decisions were made ahead of this season. Patrick Bamford was shown the door, and he and the club came to an agreement to terminate his contract. Farke then shocked everyone by integrating Jack Harrison into the team after he spent the last two seasons out on loan.

Fans were unhappy when youth in the attack was shipped out to keep the likes of Harrison and Brenden Aaronson. Mateo Joseph asked to leave the club, so Leeds found a loan to Spain for him. Largie Ramazani, who many had hopes for this year, was also loaned to a La Liga side.

Aaronson and Harrison are yet to make the impact that Farke has asked from them; the American especially has taken a lot of criticism the last couple of weeks. Meanwhile, Largie Ramazani has no fared that well out on loan. After an assist on his debut, he went without a goal contribution over multiple games, and recently got injured.

Mateo Joseph was similar; he started poorly, and was even benched at a point. But after a seven-game goalless streak, he scored a brace against Sevilla. He has since been speaking to the media, asking the Mallorca fans to be patient with him as he adapts to football in Spain:

“I’ve been feeling better for a few weeks. A change of league and team requires adaptation and a process, and I’m looking forward to this also being, as the coach said, the game we all use to gain more confidence,”

Good news for Leeds United

Mateo Joseph succeeding on loan plays into Leeds United’s long term plans. The club officials are very high on him and see him as a valuable asset. If he keeps performing in La Liga this season, there will be a lot of suitors next summer. The Whites can then cash in for a huge fee.
