Leeds open to allowing veteran to leave before contract expires, says chief scout

This week, Football Insider reported, citing sources, that Patrick Bamford is planning to leave Leeds next summer and join a new club after growing frustrated under manager Daniel Farke.

According to the report, Leeds veteran Patrick Bamford’s limited playing time this season has increased the chances of a potential move in the summer of 2025.

The 31-year-old has only featured in four matches so far, with just one start, as a hamstring injury has kept him sidelined for much of the season. This has reduced his role in the team.

Bamford now finds himself behind Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph in the lineup under Farke, making a departure seem more likely. With his contract running until 2026, Leeds will either need to sell him or reach a mutual agreement to terminate his deal.

Is Leeds open to letting Patrick Bamford go?

According to Football Insider, Leeds are open to selling Patrick Bamford at the end of the season following his recent comments about his future at the club.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told the English outlet that Leeds might look to cash in on Bamford, as he’s no longer seen as a critical player under Farke.

“I’ve heard Leeds are open to letting him leave,” Brown told Football Insider. “His record in front of goal isn’t particularly impressive and hasn’t been for a while now. He’s had countless injury issues as well which have caused them trouble.

“Where Leeds want to go, they want to earn promotion and they want to be a Premier League side. He doesn’t fit that mould because he couldn’t cut it last time they were up there other than one season which was an outlier by all means. “I think his time at Leeds has come to an end. It’s time for Leeds to move him on. But he won’t be going upwards. He’ll have to settle for a step down.”

Bamford scored eight goals in 33 league matches last season, but he’s yet to find the net this season as he continues to deal with injury problems. It will be interesting to see if the veteran receives any interest from other clubs once the January window opens.
