Leeds receive major boost as Mitrovic ruled out for Fulham clash

Talismanic Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic is set to miss his side’s game against Leeds United later this month after the FA confirmed he is due to face an eight-game ban at the minimum.

April looks like a crucial month for the Whites, one which got off to a promising start yesterday evening with a 2-1 home win over relegation rivals Nottingham Forest.

Next up are fellow strugglers Crystal Palace this Sunday, followed by Liverpool on the 17th – both sides who the West Yorkshire outfit are facing on their own turf at Elland Road.

This is then followed by an away trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham – a side who are exceeding all expectations by still remaining in the Premier League’s top half with 10 games of their season remaining.

The remainder of the Cottager’s league campaign could be set for a negative turn, however, after it was confirmed yesterday that star man Mitrovic is going to face a lengthy ban due to his violent conduct towards referee Chris Kavanagh in their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

Due to the nature of the offence, the Serbian international is set for an extended ban of at least eight games, a significant increase from the usual three.

As such, Mitrovic will definitely be absent for when Leeds face Fulham in three matches time in what can only serve as a massive boost for Javi Gracia’s side.

And with the FA set to appeal Mitrovic’s ban – as they consider its length insufficient – things could be set to get even worse for Marco Silva’s men.

Leeds currently sit 13th in the table after yesterday’s result, and will be hoping to increase the gap between themselves and the relegation zone before they travel to face Fulham on the 22nd April.
