Patrick Bamford could return to the Leeds United squad for their big Championship clash against Burnley at Elland Road on Saturday.
Bamford made two substitute appearances in Leeds’ first two Championship games but missed the last two games due to an injury issue.
His injury struggles since last season have meant Mateo Joseph has leapfrogged him as the first-choice number 9 for the Yorkshire giants in the ongoing campaign.
The 31-year-old’s fitness has been a problem and some feel it could be the key behind Leeds’ bid to get promoted to the Premier League from the Championship this season.
But Leeds could be in for some good news on Bamford this week as the striker continues to recover from his injury.
Patrick Bamford could play some part against Burnley
Bamford has been working behind the scenes to get back to full fitness and make himself available to play games for Leeds soon.
His recovery has been on track and according to Football Insider, the striker could be ready to be in the squad against Burnley at Elland Road on Saturday.
Bamford is unlikely to be ready to start a game for Leeds but he could be fit enough to play some part in the big Championship game this weekend.
It is likely to be a big boost for Daniel Farke who failed to sign a new striker for the Leeds first-team squad in the summer transfer window.
Joseph is the preferred number 9 but the Leeds boss would love to have a striker of Bamford’s quality on the bench for the big game against Burnley.
The 31-year-old striker scored eight times in the league last season but made only 15 starts in the Championship for Leeds.
However, a knee injury meant that Bamford played no part in the playoffs where Leeds lost to Southampton in the final at Wembley.
