It’s been a great week at Leeds with two signings and a huge win against Wigan, but as we know in rugby league not everything is rosy.

There’s always at least one problem to consider and despite the win on Thursday, the Rhinos still have a number of problems in the shape of injuries.

Here’s the latest on every injured player currently at the club.

David Fusitu’a

Fusitu’a picked up an ankle injury in the first half against Wigan but felt he could play on and did so until late in the second half when he was withdrawn.

After the game Rohan Smith admitted that if it was ligament problem then he’d be a doubt for Catalans but otherwise would be relatively okay.

Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer

I’ve rolled these two into one because both seem to have injuries that appear to be short term but as the weeks go by and they keep missing games, worries begin to arise.

I’d expect at least one if not both to play this week unless there’s a bigger problem that we’re not yet privy to.

Kruise Leeming

With a stress fracture, Kruise Leeming’s season could very well be over. All we can hope is that his recovery is at the lower end of the scale meaning should Leeds make the play-offs we could see him again at a push.

Fortunately, Jarrod O’Connor is doing a brilliant job in his absence.

Tom Briscoe

After a number of setbacks after an ankle injury, Tom Briscoe surely must be edging closer to a return in the coming weeks.

However, with Harry Newman, Liam Sutcliffe and Zak Hardaker all playing well in the centres and Liam Tindall a sound option on the wing should David Fusitu’a be injured long term, Briscoe may find it hard to get back into the side.

Sam Walters

There’s not been too much said about Sam Walters’ injury but I’m hoping it’s a short term problem.

He’s done very well as a developing young prop in recent weeks and I only hope he can get back into the mix to continue his development.

Corey Johnson

Johnson was a late withdrawal from the win over Wigan due to illness opening the door for Muizz Mustapha to play.

I fully expect him to be back in the mix this week however.

Max Simpson

Poor Max Simpson spent his 18th birthday yesterday housebound. A young player with great potential, we shouldn’t need him again this season so he can focus on recovering fully and be ready for a big 2023 season.
