Former referee Keith Hackett believes England manager Gareth Southgate will have a chat with Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips after a heavy challenge for England last week.
Phillips played every minute of England’s simple 4-0 win over Hungary last week in what was a World Cup qualifier, but Hackett believes the United stalwart will be reprimanded.

“This is one where if the referee is operating a duty of care, he could still award a free-kick for the foul challenge, which for me it was,” Hackett told MOT Leeds News.
“I think the manager [Southgate] can have a quiet word in his ear and just say ‘look, we like the strength, we like the power, but you can’t use the ball as an excuse when you’re challenging the player’.
“I think it comes into focus, in international football, you can tot up the yellow cards and not be available to the team.”

More shite ‘reporting’. What a waste of education!
