Crysencio Summerville’s departure for West Ham United this summer left a massive hole in offensive production on the wing. In the final days of the summer transfer window, Leeds United made a move for one player that they hope will help replace Summerville.
Last season, the 22-year-old made 49 appearances across all competitions, generating 21 goals and 10 assists. One player that Leeds targeted this summer to replace this production is Largie Ramazani.
The English club reportedly paid €11.7 million for the total package with add-ons included and a 15 percent sell-on clause for Ramazani, per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Moreover, the former Manchester United youth player played in 128 matches across all competitions for Almería, scoring 22 goals and registering nine assists.
Daniel James validates Largie Ramazani’s arrival
Leeds standout Daniel James was at Manchester United from 2019 to 2021 and crossed paths with Ramazani while with the Red Devils as the Belgian was with the Premier League side from 2017 to 2020. In an interview with The Second Tier podcast, James spoke highly of the former Almería standout.
“I trained quite a few times with Largie before when he was 17 and he was a great prospect,” James said (h/t TEAMTalk). “He’s gone out to Spain, done well and he’s a great addition.”
In recent days, James isn’t the only person speaking highly of Ramazani as Almería coach Rubi stated that the traits that the Belgium native has there no one on their squad possesses. As a result, it will be a challenging task to replace what the player brings to the table since the club is also looking for promotion to La Liga in Spain.
“We don’t have a winger like Ramazani,” Rubi said. “It’s true that he’s a player who can make mistakes in his decision-making, but we don’t have players with that spark and electricity in the squad.
“In the medium term, if we don’t get a replacement, we’re looking to train a player from the reserve team or the youth team who can make the jump, “adds Rubi. “But the idea is to look for a player with that profile on the market in time.
