Leeds United have had a lot of players in and out of their doors in the past few years. Not all of them have worked out, while some have now become the cornerstone of the club.

Under Victor Orta, the Whites had a policy of signing high-potential youngsters from top clubs in the hope of developing them into first team stars. Some did not pan out, but Leeds hit gold with the likes of Pascal Struijk and Crysencio Summerville.

Struijk is now a pillar of the club, while Summerville left for a huge fee last year.

Elia Caprile joined Leeds Unite in 2020 after climbing up the ranks in Chievo’s team. The young Italian signed a three-year deal at Elland Road. He never played for the first team, but featured a lot for the club’s U23 and U19 sides. Caprile was often called up for matchday squads with the senior team but never actually featured in games.

He officially left Elland Road in 2022, completing a move to Serie B side Bari. The Italian club paid around £1.5million for Caprile. He earned a move to Napoli, but only made a handful of appearances before a few loan deals. The keeper signed for Cagliari this summer.

Calciomercato are reporting that AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus are all monitoring his situation ahead of next summer. Cagliari value him around £26million. Leeds only had a sell on clause for Caprile when they sold him to Bari, and thus will not be getting any fee if he does move next summer.

Illan Meslier set to be sold in January

Speaking of Leeds keepers, this week multiple European clubs have been linked with a move for Illan Meslier. The Frenchman has been attracting interest since the transfer window in England closed. According to the report, Leeds will try and offload the 25-year old in the January after he slipped down the pecking order. Inter Milan, Rangers, Lorient and Valencia are also monitoring the situation.

Leeds know they will have to sell Meslier for a low fee, as his contract expires next summer. In January, the 25-year old is allowed to discuss transfers with other clubs to join when he becomes a free agent.
