Leeds United had some great news this week as Harry Gray signed a new contract with the club. Rumours spread when the contract announcement was not done on the week of his birthday, but all inside sources confirmed it was a done deal.
The Whites now have the young striker tied down for the long-term future. Gray was highly sought after by the biggest clubs in England and across Europe; many who were monitoring the contract situation before it was completed. The forward has been close to the first team this season, after Daniel Farke gave him his senior debut last year.
When Harry Gray put pen to paper, he revealed his reason for committing his future to the club.
“I definitely always believed in myself that I would play for Leeds. I have always wanted to do that but still got a long way to go.
“I have supported Leeds for as long as I know and went to all the games and stuff, but now I get to kind of live everyone’s dream as a fan and a player at the same time, there is nothing better.”

Champions League clubs eye Leeds United youngster

Leeds have produced a great crop of talents in recent years, with Harry Gray leading the list. Players like Rory Mahady, Charlie Crewe and Alfie Cresswell are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the quality at Thorp Arch. Clubs in England have taken notice recently, and now it looks like clubs outside the country are following suit.
According to the Daily Mail, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are monitoring Leeds U18 star Sam Alker. The 16-year old is a technically gifted attacking midfielder who has been capped by England at youth level. He turns 17 next year, and will only be able to sign professional terms then.
Alker could join clubs outside England if he does not sign a professional contract with Leeds, but he would have to wait till he turned 18 years old. German clubs have recently kept their eye on English talents after the success of Jude Bellingham.
Club need to tie down their talents
The Whites have done a great job giving new contracts to some of their most talented youngsters. Just this year alone, Sam Chambers and Alfie Cresswell also signed new deals. Leeds have a gold mine of talent coming up, and the only way to make sure they reach the first team is to keep them at the club. Hopefully Alker puts pen to paper next year.
