Leeds United have already faced two difficult teams to start the year, and their schedule will only get more difficult.
This weekend, the Whites face Newcastle next after playing Manchester United and Liverpool. Farke’s side continued their great run to end the year. Against the Reds, they were able to hold of Arne Slot’s men for 90 minutes to earn a 0-0 draw.
Leeds also put in a spirited performance up against Manchester United the last time out. Fans will be pleased that the team continues to distance themselves from the relegation zone. If the Whites can continue this form, then the club could secure survival at the end of the season.
Newcastle suffer injury blow ahead of Leeds United clash
Leeds will have another difficult task ahead of them as they face Newcastle at St. James’ Park; the Magpies are one of the best teams at home in the Premier League. Eddie Howe’s side have won six of their 10 games at their home ground and have only lost twice. Unfortunately for the home side, they may be without one of their key players for the upcoming game.
Howe has confirmed that Jacob Murphy could miss the game with an injury problem:
“He’s had a scan. There’s good news on the scan, no major injury there, so I think it was probably fatigue.
“His physical numbers in the game were outstanding, so yeah, I think he’ll be available at the moment.
“It’ll be a late decision for us, but fingers crossed.”

Daniel Farke will need to get it right once again
The Leeds boss deserves a lot of credit for his tactics and his team selection in recent weeks. Fans had complained about this for most parts of the campaign; but a few months ago he found a blueprint. The shift to 3-5-2 is not the only reason why Leeds win games.
Selecting players like Brenden Aaronson in midfield, and Noah Okafor up front bring players who add a different skillset to the team. It allows them to be flexible and catch a lot of teams off guard. Leeds were able to shut down Liverpool, preventing the reds from creating any dangerous chances, and against Manchester United, they were able to hold them off after Matheus Cunha found the equalizer. This weekend, if Farke can get his tactics right at St. James Park, Leeds might leave with another huge result.
