Leeds United have done a great job adding to key areas of the squad. Daniel Farke is expected to push for more signings before pre season kicks off.
Lukas Nmecha has been brought in to freshen up the attack. He joins Patrick Bamford as the only two strikers with multiple seasons of top level experience. Nmecha is expected to play a supporting role and provide competition to Joel Piroe. Another center forward is on the Whites’ radar for this summer.
The club have also brought in two defenders for the first team squad. Jaka Bijol is expected to come in and challenge for a starting spot in the team. Sebastiaan Bornauw will take Max Wober’s place as a rotation option. Wober joined Werder Bremen on loan last week.

So far Daniel Farke has bolstered the attack and defence. Midfield is an area that the club planned to deal with, but Sunderland swooped in and signed two of the Whites’ key targets. Habib Diarra joined the Black Cats after Leeds refused to pay the £30million asking price. Days later, Leeds target Noah Sadiki also joined Sunderland.
Now, the Whites are set to land their main target. The Athletic have reported that Leeds have agreed personal terms with Sean Longstaff. But Newcastle are yet to accept their current bid. An offer of £10m + £2m is currently on the table according to David Ornstein. This is the third bid the Whites have made for the midfielder.
Longstaff wants to get Magpies a fee
It is believed that Longstaff wants a departure this summer in order to secure a transfer fee for his club. The 27-year old has been a long term servant, having been at the club for the last 19 years. Eddie Howe said earlier this summer that the decision to leave St. James’ Park lied with the midfielder, and he has made his choice.
Midfielder would be a solid addition
Leeds current crop of midfielders possess almost similar characteristics: very good on the ball, and can progress play. Sean Longstaff would provide something very different. He is a unique box-to-box type of player built for the Premier League.

He rarely played this past season, but in 2023/24 he had six goals and two assists in marauding number eight role. The 27-year old is great defensively, and wins his duels. He is not the greatest on the ball, but he makes up for it in work rate. Longstaff is the ideal signing for teams who want to remain in the Premier League.
