“Leeds United are fun and bigger than I expected” – New arrival raves about life at Elland Road

The summer transfer window is now behind Leeds United, and the club are now focused on building on the good start to the season they have made. The Whites are confident that their summer recruits will make a difference over the course of the campaign.

The poor end to the transfer window is threatening to cast a long shadow on the club’s season. But Leeds believe that a bad deadline day should not undo the work they carried out earlier in the window to bolster several key areas of the squad with quality new players.

Leeds have looked short of ideas in the final third. However, apart from their poor game at Arsenal, the side have looked solid in defence and midfield, and that is down to the recruitment work carried out to bolster those two areas of the squad early in the summer transfer window.

Gabriel Gudmundsson was brought in to replace Junior Firpo, who left the club at the end of last season, and he has looked solid in the left-back position early in the season. The new boy is also enjoying his time at Elland Road

Gabriel Gudmundsson is loving life at Leeds United

Gudmundsson joined Leeds from French side Lille and has slotted straight into the left-back role left by Firpo, whose contract expired at the end of last season.

He has started all three of Leeds’ Premier League games at the start of the season, and has looked solid in defence as the Whites picked up four points early in the campaign.

The defender is now with the Sweden squad for their upcoming international games, and the player has spoken about how much he is loving life being a Leeds star.

He admitted that playing in the Premier League was always his dream, and insisted that he has been having fun being a player at Elland Road.

The Swede stressed that while he knew Leeds are a big club in England, he only realised the enormity of their stature once he joined the team.

“I am so incredibly proud to be at this level. I have dreamed of the Premier League since I was little”, the defender told Swedish daily Aftonbladet.

“It’s really exciting to have joined Leeds; I knew it was a big and historic club, but I didn’t realise it would be this big.”

He is fit to play for Sweden

Gudmundsson picked up a knock during the 0-0 draw at home against Newcastle, and there were doubts about his participation for Sweden during the break.

However, the defender has allayed any fears about his injury and insisted that he is ready to play the full 90 minutes against Slovenia on Friday night.

He said: “It’s good. No problem. I’m completely ready.

“I took a hit early and tried to fight through it, but it got tough towards the end. I’ve got 90 minutes in me if needed.”
