Leeds United will find themselves competing with established Premier League clubs for multiple targets this summer. It will be difficult to beat teams to top players in the division.
No one really wants to be in a relegation battle for 90% of the season. So when newly promoted clubs are after a player, they often overpay or offer insane wages to seal the deal. Sometimes it is necessary; the gap in quality in the Premier League continues to increase.
The past two seasons have seen all three new clubs go straight back down to the Championship. Leicester City and Ipswich Town pipped the Whites to automatic promotion last year, but both clubs failed to even get 30 points this season.

Leeds have been on the lookout for Premier League quality. The recent transfer links have all involved players currently in the competition. Unlike with Ipswich, who spent a lot of money buying the best players from the Championship, Leeds are aiming a bit higher.
The attack seems to be in particular focus over the past few weeks. Daniel Farke is keen to add some firepower to the frontline. Jamie Vardy and Callum Wilson are the biggest names to be linked.
Newcastle are set to hold talks with Wilson over a new deal. But The Sun is now reporting that the 33-year old may reject the offer in favour of a move elsewhere. Leeds United believe they have the advantage over Everton because they can guarantee him playing time as a starter. David Moyes reportedly wants to add two strikers to the Everton squad, that already has Beto up front – meaning Wilson would have to compete for minutes if he joins them.
Leeds can offer Wilson a guaranteed place
As it stands, Joel Piroe will be the starting striker next season. But there are question marks over his ability. Leeds will definitely try to sign another striker for competition and Callum Wilson fits that bill. Having an option who has Premier League experience and can score, will also be a huge bonus for Daniel Farke.
