Leeds United are tracking Brighton star – he was valued at £100M over a year ago

Leeds United

As the weeks grow closer, Leeds United are more and more confident of their chances of making the Premier League. The club feel they can now make plans in the transfer window to prepare for the top flight.

After Sheffield United’s slip up, Leeds are now almost guaranteed to finish in an automatic promotion slot. Opta’s supercomputer also predicts that the Whites have a 65.16% of winning the league title. Daniel Farke could be set to achieve promotion this year after the heartbreak of last summer’s playoff finals.

Leeds saw off Preston at Elland Road on Saturday. First half goals from Manor Solomon and Jayden Bogle were enough to seal all three points. The pressure was on to win after Burnley’s win on Friday night, but the Whites responded well.

Center forward might be an area that the Whites take a serious look at this summer. Joel Piroe has been uninspiring this season, despite almost matching his goal tally from last year. Too many times this season he has been anonymous in games only to miss the biggest chance in front of goal. With the club also lacking adequate backup strikers, there is the feeling a new signing might arrive at Elland Road before next season.

According to TEAMtalk, Leeds are one of multiple teams keeping tabs on Brighton striker Evan Ferguson. The 20-year old is currently on loan at West Ham after lack of playing time with the seagulls. Ferguson was one of the Premier League’s brightest talents was valued at 100million a few years ago, but injuries have slowed his development.

Brighton wanted £45million for the Ireland international in January, but that fee is expected to plummet, seeing how his loan has gone so poorly. Leeds could find themselves in a battle with Everton for Evan Ferguson this summer.

Club can take a chance on Evan Ferguson

Despite the injuries slowing him down, there is still potential in Ferguson. At just 20 years old, there is a lot of time for him to get back on track. He still continues to show signs in games, but needs a consistent run to put it together again.

How many youngsters can boast of 12 goals in their first two Premier League seasons as a teenager? If Leeds are smart, they put their trust in Evan Ferguson as their long term number nine.
