Last month, Alan Nixon reported that Aston Villa and Leeds United are interested in signing Bristol Rovers star Kofi Shaw.
The 17-year-old made his senior debut for the club in August during an EFL Cup match against Cardiff City and later scored his first goal in the EFL Trophy against Tottenham’s Under-21 team.
Shaw has quickly made a name for himself as a promising young talent with the League One club, already racking three senior league appearances for the Pirates.
Last season, the Yorkshire side proved that they can trust teenagers in important roles as they push for promotion to the Premier League. Additionally, scouting in the lower tiers of the EFL could see the Whites find gems to inject more talented youth into the club.
Leeds United and Aston Villa miss out on youngster
Leeds United and Aston Villa seem to be out of the running for the young talent for now, as Bristol Rovers have announced that the winger has signed a contract extension.
Shaw’s new deal keeps him at the club until the summer of 2027. As part of his development, the midfielder will spend time on loan at Yeovil Town FC, playing for the National League side until January 2025.
“I’m really pleased to have signed my new contract with Bristol Rovers,” Shaw told the club’s official website. “I have only seen my future at this Club, so to have signed an extension shows the faith the Club has in me and the belief I have that I can fulfill my potential here.

“I’ve had some really good opportunities so far this season. It’s been great to be in and around the team and showing what I can do while also learning from the coaches and other players. Everyone at the Club has been great with me, and the conversations with everyone at the Club have been really positive.
“I get to go out on loan now which I know will be a big benefit for my development. I’m looking forward to continuing to show what I can do and using the loan as a catalyst to eventually come back to Bristol Rovers and get in our first team on a more regular basis.”
Leeds have been linked with other young players like a young Liverpool Ace which you can read about here.
