Last summer, Leeds United boss Daniel Farke gave the green light for multiple players to leave in pre-season. The German had his idea of who would make the team for the Premier League.
Some of the exits that summer came as a shock, because they did contribute to the promotion campaign.
Patrick Bamford was left out, and mutually agreed to end his contract before leaving on a free. Mateo Joseph and Largie Ramazani both left the club on loan before the transfer deadline.
Unfortunately for the club, most of these players left on temporary deals.
This means that almost all the players will return this summer.
Leeds United star tipped to join rivals
The only Leeds United player among last summer’s departures who looks close to leaving is Joe Gelhardt.
He impressed on loan at Hull City, helping them on their journey back to the Premier League. The Tigers had to do it the hard way, going through the play-offs and winning the final.
Hull will have to do some serious squad building before the new season starts.
And former Tigers star Robert Snodgrass has said that Gelhardt would be an ideal signing for the team.
“I think so. He did really well [last season] and Hull City will need all the quality [they can get] to compete in the Premier League.” he told Yorkshire Post.
“I have been impressed with Gelhardt when I’ve seen him and I’m very happy for Hull City to have got promoted back to the Premier League. There’s a good culture now in the squad, Oli McBurnie is a big player for them. I would for sure look to keep Gelhardt.”

Everything worked out for the 49ers
When Joe Gelhardt was not happy with not playing, he had to wait until mid-season to get a loan.
The move to Hull City last year is what has given him and the club the chance for a summer transfer. Gelhardt impressed on loan in January, and played even better this year, scoring 15 goals.
Everything is pointing to a departure this summer.
The Leeds attacker will finally get a move away, and the club will get some transfer funds on a player who was not in their plans.
The focus for the 49ers this summer will be to get a good fee off the sale of Joe Gelhardt. It will be much more important considering the new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules.
