Daniel Farke and his players are focused on getting the job done in the final eight games of the season but recruitment work for next season has already started behind the scenes. Leeds are hoping to be a Premier League club in the summer and their recruitment decisions are set to be based on being in the top flight. The Whites are hoping to bring in a few experienced faces to ensure they have the nous in the squad needed to survive in the Premier League. However, the Yorkshire giants are also alive to the possibility of snapping up emerging young talents from across Europe.
Farke and his men have a lot of work to do before they can celebrate returning to the Premier League at the end of the season but their recruitment people are already working for the summer.
Leeds United are hoping to be in the Premier League and plans are underway to build a squad that would be good enough to survive in the top flight next season.
The Whites are expected to try and sign readymade players who would come in and make an impact straightaway in the Premier League as they would have little time to waste.
However, Leeds are also interested in bringing in talented young players with a high ceiling before their market value explodes and one such starlet from France is on their radar.
Leeds United have their eyes on 18-year-old wonderkid in Ligue 1
According to Le Repulicain Sportif, Leeds are amongst the clubs who have their eyes on FC Nantes’ 18-year-old winger Herba Guirassey ahead of next summer.
Scottish giants Celtic are also keeping tabs on him as they continue their sporting idea of bringing in young players for small fees and selling them on for massive profits a few years later.
Guirassy’s performances this season have piqued the interest of several clubs and he is now a prime target for both Leeds and Celtic for the next transfer window.
A product of the Nantes academy, he scored an astonishing 24 goals in 36 appearances for their Under-19 side before being called up to the first team.
He has made 17 senior appearances for the club and has scored three goals. Guirassy has been linked with a move away from Nantes in the summer.
The teenager has a contract until 2028 with Nantes but the French club are ready to cash in on him if they receive offers in the region of £8m in the next window.
Promotion will help Leeds land the young winger
Leeds are expected to focus on bringing in players with experience in the Premier League if they get promoted given their priority would be to survive in their first season back.
However, the 49ers want to invest in young talents who could grow and develop at Elland Road and would provide a decent resale value to the club.
Can you name these 10 former Leeds United players?
Guirassy is the kind of young talent Leeds want to attract to Elland Road and the club are working hard towards getting a deal done to sign him.
Celtic are formidable challengers as they play in the Champions League every season and have a record of developing young talents to eventually sell them on.
However, if Leeds get promoted to the Premier League, they would have an edge as playing in the English top flight is a huge attraction for young players.
