Leeds United battle Wolves and Newcastle for Champions League midfielder

One of the positions Leeds United are looking to add depth to this summer is in the centre of the park. Yes, United already boast great quality in that department in the shape of Kalvin Phillips and co but it’s clear that Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta both want to bring in some reinforcements.

According to reports, their search has led them to Swedish midfielder Jens Cajuste. The 21-year-old recently caught the at the Euros but will already be familiar to one or two English supporters after coming up against Liverpool in last year’s Champions League for FC Midtjylland.

A report by Swedish news outlet Expressen suggests Leeds are preparing a bid for the promising midfielder. However, it appears Leeds have some fierce competition from Premier League rivals when it comes to securing his signature with Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Wolves also vying for his services.

There’s also interest from across the channel with Rennes offering £8.4 million however it’s said that Midtjylland are waiting for a more substantial offer.

It does appear that his future may exist outside of Midtjylland after his omission from their Champions League qualifier against Celtic on Tuesday.
