Leeds United are in the market for more players in the ongoing summer transfer window, but they also have their eyes on sales. The club are looking to move on several players before the window closes on Monday night.

Daniel Farke is eager to bring in two more attacking reinforcements for Leeds United ahead of Monday evening’s transfer deadline. The club are exploring multiple targets, while also working on moving a few players out to free up space in the budget for potential signings.

Leeds have terminated Patrick Bamford’s contract to let him leave on a free transfer, and have agreed loan deals to move on Mateo Joseph, Isaac Schmidt and Largie Ramazani this summer. All three players were deemed surplus to requirements at Elland Road by manager Farke.

However, Leeds are still looking to move on a couple more players, and are keen to bring in some money, which could make the difference in one or two incoming deals before the window closes on Monday evening.

Leeds United refused to sell Illan Meslier to Galatasaray

Leeds are desperate to sell Meslier as he is one of the top earners in the squad, but has dropped down to being third-choice goalkeeper since Lucas Perri’s arrival.

Lorient, Rangers and Valencia are among the clubs that have shown an interest in signing the goalkeeper before Monday evening’s transfer deadline.

However, according to journalist Yakup Cinar, Galatasaray enquired about the possibility of signing the Frenchman as well this summer.

The Turkish giants are in the market for a goalkeeper late in the transfer window, and did show an interest in signing the Leeds goalkeeper.

But Leeds were firm about not wanting to sell Meslier or any other player to Galatasaray as per the club’s long-held principle.

The Whites have no interest in doing business with Galatasaray, with whom they have a more than two-decade-long running feud.

Leeds and Galatasaray’s long-running feud makes any transfer almost impossible

Leeds made it clear that it is almost impossible for them to consider the prospect of doing transfer business with Galatasaray under any circumstances.

The club’s position stems from the “past tensions” between the two clubs, dating back to the tragic incident in Istanbul in 2000, when two Leeds supporters were fatally stabbed before a match.

During the game, sections of the Galatasaray support mocked the tragedy, while the Turkish club declined to wear black armbands, a gesture of disrespect that Leeds fans have never forgotten.

Sanctioning a deal for Meslier or any other Leeds player to join Galatasaray is a non-starter for the club and the fans.
