Leeds United had quite an impressive transfer window, despite what happened in the final weeks. The Whites managed to recruit some top quality players while adding key depth.
One of the more surprising things about the recruitment is how Leeds were able to sign multiple players from top clubs in Europe. It is not that common for newly-promoted clubs to attract such talent. And the Whites did it while following a strict budget. It has also been revealed that the club’s chiefs have ensured that there will be no mass exodus of these new players in the event of relegation.
The first few games of the season have been positive, with some of the new signings adapting to life in the Premier League. New signings Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson have earned plaudits so far.

Leeds United star snubbed Champions League move to join this summer

It was quite a big surprise when Dominic Calvert-Lewin was announced as Leeds’ latest summer signing. Many expected him to join a Premier League club that was not fresh from the Championship. At some point, he was even considered as an option for Manchester United.
But the former Everton man signed and has already made his debut. Many were a bit confused about his decision, but so far, the striker has shown that he really wanted to join the club. Leeds managing director Robbie Evans said that the 28-year old turned down a move to a Champions League club in order to sign for the Whites:
“We’re very proud of the way we went and got Dom, who, by the way, turned down a Champions League contract the day we signed him,” he said. “We’re thrilled that he’s here.
“A shared view from the manager, from the recruitment and from the sporting director was that of all the options that were even plausibly available to us nobody was a better fit to the objective of staying up this season than Dominic.”
Calvert-Lewin’s start to the season has not been the best following his shocking cameo against Sheffield Wednesday. But the club hope to get him fully fit, and up and running soon.
