Leeds United completed their second signing of the summer on Friday, sealing a £34m deal for Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo.

The Bosnia international arrives as Pascal Struijk’s replacement after the Dutch defender’s move to Brighton earlier in the transfer window, giving Daniel Farke another strong option in the heart of defence.

Leeds have also strengthened their attack with the free signing of Harry Wilson and remain on the lookout for a creative midfielder as they continue to shape the squad for their Premier League return.

The Whites are still in talks with Southampton over a deal for Shea Charles, but they are also exploring alternative midfield options, including a Serie A player, as they weigh up their next move.

Leeds United target set to leave Serie A giants

The Whites are intent on upgrading some of their midfield options this summer, and their pursuit of Southampton midfielder Shea Charles is a sign of their determination.

However, Leeds have other midfield targets as well, and it emerged recently that Leeds have probed the possibility of signing Yunus Musah with both his agents and AC Milan.

New AC Milan boss Ruben Amorim wanted more time to evaluate the midfielder before deciding on his future at the San Siro this summer.

According to Calciomercato.it, the Portuguese has decided to let him move on from AC Milan in the ongoing window.

He is on his way out of the San Siro after the midfielder didn’t fit into the new Rossoneri boss’s plans for the future.

Leeds have already made enquiries for him, and he is firmly on their radar as they seek to bring in more midfield upgrades this summer.

It remains to be seen whether they make a concrete offer to sign him in the coming weeks.

Atalanta declined to take up a £24m option to buy after his loan stint ended at the end of last season.

Who will leave Leeds if Yunus Musah joins?

Leeds United are not short of options in midfield, and it was arguably one area of the squad that did not require major investment this summer.

Even so, Daniel Farke appears keen to add a more dynamic presence in the middle of the park, with Shea Charles and Yunus Musah among the club’s leading targets.

Another midfield signing would almost certainly have a knock-on effect, with competition for places expected to be fierce throughout the Premier League season.

As things stand, Ilia Gruev and Sean Longstaff look the most likely candidates to leave if Leeds bring in another midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Gruev has entered the final year of his contract, while Longstaff slipped down the pecking order during the second half of last season and found first-team opportunities increasingly limited.
