Leeds United close in on £30m Igor Paixao deal – Marseille talks stall

Leeds United have already signed six new players in the ongoing summer transfer window to bolster their options ahead of their return to the Premier League. However, they have had to be patient with a potential deal to sign Igor Paixao since meeting his representatives last week.

Paixao has emerged as one of the top targets for Leeds this summer as they seek to add more goals, pace, and power to their attack, which they believe is necessary to survive in the Premier League next season. The Brazilian has been identified as a potential game-changing signing by the Whites.

Leeds held talks with the player and his representatives last week to present the project to the player and have been waiting to try and convince him to move to Elland Road since then.

Marseille have a contractual agreement in place with Paixao, who is keen to join the French giants, but negotiations between them and Feyenoord have not gone anywhere over the last few days.

Leeds United close in on a deal as Marseille talks stall with Feyenoord for Igor Paixao

Paixao scored 16 goals and registered 14 assists in the Eredivisie last season and was Feyenoord’s best player in the entire campaign.

The Dutch club are ready to let him go, but they want a premium fee, and Marseille are yet to come up with an offer to satisfy their financial demands.

The French giants have tabled a deal worth £24m for the winger, but according to RMC Sports, the negotiations have stalled between the two clubs.

Feyenoord want more than £30m for the Brazilian star while Marseille are unwilling to go beyond their current offer for Paixao this summer.

The French giants have continued to remain in talks with other players, including Juventus’ Timothy Weah, who has also agreed on personal terms with the club.

Leeds have continued to keep tabs on Paixao, and are now willing to move in and hold negotiations with Feyenoord over a potential deal to sign the Brazilian.

Leeds will still have to convince Paixao

The winger has made up his mind about moving to France, and has given his approval to potentially joining Marseille in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The stalled negotiations allow Leeds a window of opportunity, and the club are said to be ready to meet Feyenoord’s financial demands.

However, they will still have to convince Paixao to give up on his plans to move to France and join them at Elland Road in the coming days and weeks.

Leeds are using the example of Raphinha to convince the player that his career could go places if he moves to the Premier League club this summer.
