Leeds United confirm departure of huge star

Today, Leeds United have announced the official departure of Ezgjan Alioski.

For months, the future of the left-sided star has been up in the air. Alioski and Leeds have struggled to settle on a deal and now he’s been officially let go by the club after no agreement has been reached.

Leeds have been more than willing to bring in a natural left-back to provide the team with more balance and replace anything lost by Alioski.

The North Macedonian international joined Leeds back in 2017 and has made over 150 appearances for the club since then. He made 39 appearances in Leeds’ promotion campaign as he chipped in with five goals and three assists.

He was then entrusted with 36 appearances in the Premier League last term plenty of which came at left-back. His departure now more than paves the way for Junior Firpo to fill the void and provide greater balance in the team.

Nonetheless, Alioski was a special player and will be missed by the Elland Road faithful especially given his ability to create something from nothing.

Even those high up in the club have spoken about his quality and how much they’ll miss him. Victor Orta told the Leeds website: “I knew Gjanni was going to be special the moment he walked into the building.

“The emotion I saw in his face and the face of his parents when signed his contract here at Elland Road was a beautiful moment and I was sure he was going to give everything for Leeds United.

“Even with this in mind he exceeded my expectations. Gjanni has been exceptional both on and off the field, his teammates will miss him greatly, as will all of the staff at Thorp Arch and Elland Road.

“We thank Gjanni for all of his efforts and we wish him every success for the future.”

Alioski is now a free agent and can sign for any new club for no fee.
