Leeds United could be without Dan James for Preston clash – three options could replace him

Daniel James will miss the Leeds United game this weekend.

Leeds United secured a crucial win midweek.

The Whites went away to Middlesbrough on Tuesday night and came out with a win as they push for automatic promotion. After a run of draws, Leeds finally got their win to keep their place on top of the Championship. Karl Darlow’s introduction into the team has been smooth, the club have now conceded just one goal in two games.

Dan James was the hero on Tuesday night as he scored the only goal of the game. The unfortunate side of that was James going off after 73 minutes due to injury. Daniel Farke says the winger came off after a problem with his hamstring, and that he would likely miss this weekend’s game:

“James had problems with his hamstring. Took him off not to risk anything, but it could be that the turnaround is too quick for Saturday. Does not look too good as it stands.”

Losing James would be a huge blow, he seems to be the only attacker in form at the club with two goals in three games. With a crucial game against Preston, let us take a look at who could replace the Welshman.

QUIZ: Can you name the Leeds game these 10 goal celebrations are from?

1.

Wilfried Gnonto

Gnonto seems to be the natural replacement for Daniel James. The winger has a goal in his last three games and has been decent since the international break. His production since March has been worrying, but he will bring pace and the ability to stretch defences, similar to Dan James.

Largie Ramazani

A forgotten man in the Leeds United team. Since his two brilliant performances at the start of the year, Ramazani has failed to nail down a place in the starting lineup. The Belgian has been on the bench for two straight games, but could be called upon this weekend. His trickery and direct running could unlock the Preston defence this weekend.

Mateo Joseph

Joseph is not a natural like for like replacement for Dan James. However, with the Leeds attack failing to find a cutting edge in front of goal, he could be called upon. His technique and finishing would come in handy in the box.
