Despite the threat of PSR over the summer, Leeds United were able to spend close to £100million this summer. The only reason the club failed to pass that mark was because ownership ‘maxed out’ their room under the regulations.
Leeds invested a lot of that money into the defence and midfield, with fans frustrated that more money was not spent on the attack. And so far, the spending seems to have paid off – one will argue the club’s best performers this season have come from the defence or midfield.
Anton Stach has been one of the standout signings so far; many expected a defensive midfielder, but he is more of an all round player. Sean Longstaff has also stamped his mark on the team in his first couple of games, and fans will have forgotten Junior Firpo with Gabriel Gudmundsson’s solid performances.

Aidy White thinks this Leeds star has huge value

Leeds sit comfortably in midtable after two huge results against Wolves, and Bournemouth. The Whites will hope that their form continues to the mid point of the season. But even with the positives, the attack is still not performing at its peak, and could need reinforcements in the summer.
With Leeds managing director having explained that the club have spent all they could because of PSR, they might have to sell in order to buy if January comes around the corner.
Ex-Leeds man Aidy White thinks Pascal Struijk is easily worth £18m+ in today’s market:
“I don’t like the view that because you’ve been signed for money, you’re entitled to play.” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“Struijk has started the season well, he’s held on to his shirt. So he should. He’s played well,
“Struijk and Bijol, what’s their value. Bijol is worth £18m.
“Struijk’s value has got to be up there, no doubt about it. If he’s getting sold, he’s going for £18m+ – the numbers aren’t always the thing to go off.”
Leeds United could be forced to make moves in January
Depending on where the team is when midseason comes around, Daniel Farke could be forced to make some changes. The Premier League is very demanding, and when January comes around, the best teams will dip into the market to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.
If Leeds have similar plans, then they will have to make a huge decision on some first team star’s.
