Leeds United could face devastating blow

IMAGO / Pro Sports Images

The weekend wasn’t the best time for Leeds United fans, as they dropped points for the first time since the international break.

The last time Leeds dropped points was an infuriating draw with Sunderland. Leeds looked like they had the points wrapped up but a late blunder stopped the West Yorkshire club from holding onto the points against the Black Cats with keeper Illian Meslier at fault.

Since then, Leeds responded well ending Sheffield United’s unbeaten run with a 2-0 win before following that up with a 2-1 win over Watford.

That game proved costly for Daniel Farke however as Largie Ramazani, who gave Leeds the lead against Watford after just four minutes, was forced to limp off with an ankle injury which has ruled him out for six weeks. Furthermore, they also lost in form fullback Junior Firpo to a suspension.

This worked against Leeds at Ashton Gate against Bristol City as they dropped points in a 0-0 draw unable to break down their opponents.

It also cost them yet another player in the shape of Jayden Bogle through another suspension but this could just be the tip of the iceberg with regards to losing key players ahead of some more big games with Daniel Farke certainly running out of players through injuries and suspensions.

Leeds United have had a very settled back four, but that is going to the wayside. Firpo missed the game at Ashton Gate against Bristol City and now Bogle will miss the next game through another suspension.

But the most damning blow could be the loss of Joe Rodon. After a slow start for Rodon this year, he and Pascal Struijk have established a brilliant partnership with the centre backs only conceding five goals in the last 11 games which is truly impressive and the back bone for any side to get promoted. Against Bristol City, on Sofascore, he was Leeds’ second best player after Sam Byram and losing him to a ban would be a devastating blow and it is likely on the horizon with Rodon just one yellow card away from a ban.
