Leeds United could land ‘fantastic’ Millwall star for just £2M – player has José Mourinho seal of approval

This season will test Leeds United boss, Daniel Farke, and his ability to manage a squad. His insistence of a small core of players nearly cost him during the season.

When Ethan Ampadu and Illia Gruev were out due to long term injuries, he had to shuffle the pack. He ended up putting players in different roles which disrupted how fluid the team was. Fortunately, the team put together a good run from the start of the year and eventually won the league title.

Farke’s squad selection was questionable this season, and even rubbed some players the wrong way. Joe Gelhardt had to force a move away in January after months on the bench.

New signings Largie Ramazani and Isaac Schmidt also suffered the same fate. It took till late in the campaign, before Farke trusted them with minutes. This could indirectly end up costing Leeds, with Rangers monitoring Ramazani’s situation this summer.

The Whites know that they will need a sizable squad next season. And not only that, the quality will also count. Leeds’ recruitment must be spot on, as the gap at the top level keeps increasing.

Daniel Farke might be planning to do just that. According to GMS, Japhet Tanganga could be a target for the Whites this summer. The defender has been outstanding for Millwall, and is attracting interest from a host of clubs. The former Spurs defender will reportedly be available for around £2million.

Tanganga played under Jose Mourinho at Spurs, and the Portuguese coach had high praise for him.

Tanganga is an ideal depth piece

Tanganga has impressive versatility. He can play fullback and center back, and has even been deployed as a wingback in some systems. At £2million, he would be an ideal depth player. With the futures of Sam Byram and Junior Firpo undecided, Leeds could boost their chances of survival with a deal like this.
