Leeds United have some areas in the squad they need to address in the transfer market. Serious quality is needed to get the team to compete in the Premier League.

Over the weekend, the club released their retained list, showing the players the club were letting go off at the end of the season. So far, Josuha Guilavogui is the only player confirmed to leave Elland Road. In a surprising turn of events, Leeds have listed Sam Byram and Junior Firpo as players in contract talks.

But with the recent offers for Firpo from across Europe, Leed are already in the market for a new fullback.

QUIZ: Can you name the team Leeds United sold these players to?

The Whites have recently been linked with Liverpool star Kostas Tsimikas. The left back will be made available for sale this summer, as the Reds target Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez. Graeme Bailey has told Leeds United news that Leeds will make a huge push to sign Tsimikas, including potentially making him the highest-paid player at the club.

“He’s an option, on the list. He’s not cheap. He is on good Premier League wages. I think he’d probably be Leeds’ highest-paid player if he came in right now.”

Jack Harrison is the highest-paid player under contract at Leeds United, with a reported wage of £90,000-per-week.

Is Tsimikas worth in excess of £90,000 ?

Leeds United have to weigh their offer for the Liverpool star. Is a left back worth that wage in addition to a transfer fee? Very unlikely. Fullback is not a position to spend this kind of money on. If the club are really looking to give Tsimikas this kind of money, then they should rather renew Junior Firpo and Sam Byram – saving the club huge fees.

Tsimikas has been in England for a while and has not shown flashes of being a fullback that can transform an attack, or bolster a defence. Spending that kind of money on him would be ludicrous.
