Burnley star Josh Brownhill is a free agent

This week saw Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill announce that he has left the club is now a free agent.
The former Clarets captain had been with the club over the last five years. Brownhill was a key part of Burnley’s promotion campaign, but will not be with the team in the Premier League next season. The 28-year old had some parting words for his former club:
“To the fans, I really want you to know that I understand and value what Burnley is to its people and will be forever grateful to you all. From watching the community coming together through Covid and seeing how hard you all work to be able to travel around the country supporting your team.”
The midfielder said that now was the perfect time to leave the club.
“Lastly, it really felt like the perfect way to sign off my time at Burnley, by scoring two goals in my last game at Turf Moor, while captaining and being promoted into the Premier League with 100 points for a second time.”
Leeds United could be interested
Leeds could do with an attacking midfielder. Daniel Farke’s shift in system means that the team does not play with an orthodox number 10, and would use midfielders who can operate in deeper areas. Brownhill was previously linked with a move to West Yorkshire earlier this year.
Many believe he will move to a club similar to Burnley, and not drop back down to the Championship.
Daniel Farke could use a goalscoring midfielder
With the 4-3-3 system Daniel Farke is experimenting with, the team could really use with goals from the midfield.
Brownhill could be the perfect number eight for that system. Last season, he scored 18 goals in the Championship with only three goals from the penalty spot. On a free transfer, this could be a very good move for Leeds too.
