Leeds United has had a solid start to their 2024/25 season in the EFL Championship, showing resilience as they aim to return to the Premier League. Under manager Daniel Farke, they currently find themselves among the promotion contenders.
Leeds has shown strength at home, recently outclassing Plymouth Argyle 3-0 in early November. This win followed a goalless draw against Bristol City and a 2-1 victory over Watford, displaying their ability to grind out results.
While their results are promising, consistency remains crucial, especially with key draws, such as the 2-2 with Sunderland, revealing areas for improvement. Things got worse in midweek losing to Millwall 1-0 halting their recent unbeaten streak and making yesterday’s game against QPR a must win. At present, Leeds remain competitive in their quest for automatic promotion, with strong performances at Elland Road buoying fans’ optimism, but they need to become more clinical and a January signing could certainly help that.
Leeds United to swoop for Liverpool ace
Tyler Morton has been part of Liverpool setup since the age of seven, progressing through the club’s youth academy. A versatile midfielder known for his passing and composure, Morton made his senior debut for Liverpool in September 2021 during a Carabao Cup victory over Norwich City. He went on to appear in two Premier League matches and played in the Champions League, including a notable start against FC Porto in 2021. He recently was named on the bench against Arsenal and started in the League Cup against Brighton.
To gain more experience, Morton was loaned to Blackburn Rovers for the 2022-23 season, where he made 40 Championship appearances, further showcasing his ability as a deep-lying playmaker. He began the 2023-24 season on loan at Hull City, continuing his development in the Championship making a further 39 appearances which demonstrating the value he can bring to Leeds United.
He was recently linked with a move to Elland Road, and although the links have cooled off, reports suggest Leeds are still interested in bolstering their midfield to ameliorate the injury problems they have been struggling with since the loss of Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev to long term injuries earlier this season.
