Leeds United could swoop in to sign £5M star after latest development

Leeds United are definitely set to be active in the last week of the transfer window. Daniel Farke has already made it clear that the club needs to make some additions in key areas.

It looks like the pursuit of Igor Paixao and Rodrigo Muniz in the past month derailed a lot. Since then, Leeds have been moving from target to target without making concrete offers. But now, the recruitment team has to really show their worth in these last few days. The Whites’ top flight campaign could depend on who comes through the door.

On Sunday, Brighton midfielder Facundo Buonanotte was once again absent from the squad for a Premier League game. Multiple reports say he has been told he can leave, with clubs across Europe battling to sign him.

Leeds are one of those clubs according to Graeme Bailey:

“Buonanotte is on Leeds’ radar they have liked him all summer.

“Leeds still want this creative playmaker or number 10 profile before the window closes.

“Buonanotte has been told by Brighton he can leave this summer. He has already seen a few deals fall through, too.

“Leeds are absolutely still at the table. It’s certainly one to keep an eye on as we approach the deadline.”

This week will be a crucial one as a host of clubs push to complete a deal for the playmaker.

A creative presence is needed in the midfield

This summer, Daniel Farke asked for steel and got Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff. The other midfield profiles in the team are all players who thrive defensively or are good at dictating games. Looking at this Leeds team there is a distinct lack of creativity in the middle of the park.

There is no one to go on the ball and make a chance out of nothing, or score a goal. Targeting someone like Buonanotte could make a world of difference. He was very good in a poor Leicester City team last year, with five goals and two assists in the Premier League.
