Leeds United expected to secure promotion after £10 million deal

Leeds United have been given a welcome financial boost as they continue to chase promotion to the Premier League.

After global giants Red Bull bought a minority stake in Leeds United in May 2024, the club joined a long list of clubs around the world. There are six clubs associated with Red Bull including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, RB Bragantino and RB Brazil. Reports from Italy claim Red Bull want to add a seventh club, presumably from Serie A.

Despite being a part of Red Bull, Leeds United will not be run like the other clubs. The deal is more of an investment with the potential for marketing. This past month, the have now secured another lucrative deal.

Upon reaching the Premier League back in 2020, Leeds United signed a long term deal with Adidas. The German kit manufacturers and Leeds signed a five year deal reported to be worth £10million a year.

The Whites announced on 30th October that they have signed an extension with Adidas. Christopher Walsh, Vice President Brand at adidas, said the company are proud to have a club with such a rich history as their partner:

“We are thrilled to extend our successful partnership with Leeds United. Leeds United is a club with a rich history, and a passionate fan base, and we are proud to be a part of their journey.

“We look forward to creating more iconic kits and apparel that excites and energises fans both in the UK and around the world. Together, we will continue pushing boundaries in performance, style, and innovation on and off the pitch.”

Adidas deal will be structured around Premier League promotion

Finance expert Stefan Borson has revealed that a large part of the deal will depend on Leeds gaining promotion:

“I suspect that Leeds sell a decent amount of kit, even in the Championship,” Borson told Football Insider.

“On top of that, there is the Red Bull situation, which I think Adidas will look at it and see a kind of underpinning of the likely progress at the club over the next few years.

“They probably think one way or another over the next five years Leeds are likely to be back in the Premier League.

“Therefore, the structure of the deal should accommodate that.”
