Leeds United have identified another target in the summer transfer market. Considering that The Whites have only got three first-team options down the flanks, Leeds are in the market for a full-back. Among the available options, the West Yorkshire outfit is interested in Wolves’ Spanish left-back Hugo Bueno.
However, According to Team Talk Editor James Marshment, the Spaniard has shown more interest in his other suitors. Hugo is particularly interested in a move to Celtic who are also interested in signing the full-back on loan. The prospect of Champions League football is one of the big factors that currently attract the youngster.
“Told Hugo Bueno is a player that Leeds like but Wolves player currently prefers move to Celtic, with the offer of UCL football a big attraction. Situation may change but there are currently other sides in the hunt”

There is another Champions League club that fancy the left-back’s services. Dutch Giants Feyenoord are also on the run to have the defender on loan. De Stadionclub will also play in the coveted UEFA Champions League this season which also places them ahead of Leeds subject to the defender’s preferences.
Why does Leeds United need Hugo Bueno?
Wolverhampton are only keen on finding Bueno a temporary home. There will be no purchase clause in the contract and the deal will probably last a season. Even with such clauses, Leeds United is eager to get their hands on the defender due to the ongoing player crisis.
The Whites came down in the 2022/23 season and hoped to move up again in the subsequent one. Unfortunately, they lost to Southampton in the promotion play-off finals which led to many players leaving permanently or on loan. As mentioned before, Leeds have got only three first-team options down the flanks.
Junior Firpo, Jayden Bogle and Sam Byram are the players who can play at the full-back position. Firpo will probably be the starter down left and Bogle will be the starter down right. Byram is a right-footed full-back who can play on either flanks but having only three full-backs with only one backup might prove to be a disastrous strategy.
Hence a left-footed full-back is required to maintain depth down the flanks. Bueno made 25 senior appearances for Wolves last season. Even with regular play-time, the Spaniard isn’t deemed important at the Molineux. This can play to Leeds’ advantage but they’ll have to proceed with an effective blueprint explaining how his move to Elland Road can prove to be quite developmental for his career.
