Leeds United to offer £7 million for Norwich City winger

Leeds United are set to offer £7 million for Jonathan Rowe

Leeds United is ready to offer £7 million for Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe. The English winger is set to replace Crysencio Summerville who departed Leeds for West Ham United. There are also talks of Wilfried Gnonto leaving the Championship side.

According to The Telegraph’s John Percy, The Whites will set an initial offering of £7 million. Prior talks were held between the clubs but a difference in valuation deemed them unfruitful. Transfermarkt rates the midfielder at around £7.5 million putting Leeds just a few pounds short.

Rowe’s contract only runs till 2025. This will prove to be advantageous for The Whites as The Canaries won’t have much negotiating space. On the other hand, reports suggest that Jonathan earns around £4.6k a week at Carrow Road which Leeds can beat with their recently generated profits.

The England U21 international played a total of 38 games for Norwich City last season scoring 13 goals and assisting four times in the process. Also, the Englishman is still only 21 making him an exciting youth prospect for Leeds United.

Replacing Summerville, the winger can play on either flanks adding to the squad’s depth. His goal-scoring threat and creativity are going to be vital for The West Yorkshire outfit. Rowe’s age only adds to the mix making him a perfect long-term asset.

Jonathan is a product of the Norwich City Academy. He joined the side’s youth system at the age of 11 and signed his first professional contract at the age of 18.

Rowe broke through the first team just last season when he scored five goals in the first five games of all competitions. He was also shortlisted for the 2024 EFL Championship Young Player of the Season Award.

The Englishman’s pace, dribbling and flair make him a perfect winger for Daniel Farke’s tactics. He can stretch the field creating opportunities from the flanks which is just the way Farke likes it. The 21-year-old can also be deployed as an attacking midfielder adding to his versatility.

Rowe’s energy and work rate can be used to press high up the field which will be crucial given Farke’s style. His ability to retain the ball and make clever runs will help maintain control of the game.

Considering the lack of players up front, play-time is guaranteed for the winger. The winger’s dynamic style of play can help Leeds be more unpredictable adding to Farke’s aggressive style of attack. Jonathan can develop into a lethal weapon under Daniel Farke which can prove to be profitable for both sides.
