Leeds United eye massive swoop for €54M West Ham duo – Daniel Farke set to add Premier League quality this summer

Leeds United

Leeds United have learned their lesson from last summer, and are already making big plans for this summer transfer window.

After the Whites lost the play-off final to Southampton, it sparked an exodus of players. Many of them did not want to be in the Championship for another year, while some were sold because the offers were too big to resist. Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter all left on big money deals to the Premier League.

This left Leeds United short of quality entering into this season. Daniel Farke asked for specific signings, but it was only close to the end of the window that the club pushed to bring in some new faces. During the season, a bunch of injuries depleted the Leeds squad, which has led to Farke internally choosing to opt for a larger squad in the future.

The Whites took a step closer to promotion last weekend after Sheffield United slipped up. Leeds now have a 98.44% chance of promotion according to Opta. With four games left in the league, the team have their destiny in their own hands.

With Premier League ambition in sight, the club are already in the market for transfer targets ahead of next season. Claret and Hugh are reporting that Leeds are interested in signing Evan Ferguson and Tomas Soucek. West Ham will reportedly not pursue Ferguson on a permanent deal, which means he will return to his parent club Brighton. The Whites are said to be firmly in the race for the 20-year old’s signature.

Now it has been revealed that Daniel Farke is keen on adding Tomas Soucek this summer. The Czech midfielder is valued around €22million by Transfermarkt. But Leeds will have to battle other clubs for the 30-year old’s signature.

Tomas Soucek offers another dimension to the midfield

The West Ham man is a unique midfielder that most people would say is not a fit for the modern game. Soucek is not a player you put on the ball too much, and his best attributes comes from moving between both boxes.

What the 30-year old will offer you is a big presence in the middle of the park. Soucek will fight during duels and win the ball in the air, he also poses a serious threat in attack with his late runs into the box. West Ham have benefitted from his presence in the box during set pieces.

At the Premier League level, Tomas Soucek is exactly the kind of player Leeds will need to survive.
