Leeds United eye move for Newcastle star – He was linked with heavy interest from Manchester United

Leeds United have been working behind the scenes on multiple targets as they prepare for their return to the Premier League. The Whites recorded another huge win on Monday night, as they seek to win the Championship.

Burnley won their game on Saturday in convincing fashion, so Leeds responded on Monday. Daniel Farke’s side were ruthless infront of an Elland Road crowd as they put for goals past Bristol City. Ao Tanaka opened the scoring in the first half, and Wilfried Gnonto doubled the lead just after the second period. Largie Ramazani came off the bench to score twice to seal the result.

After the games, Robins’ boss Liam Manning said the atmosphere at Elland Road was a big factor behind why his team failed to get going. Leeds will have no home advantage in their last game of the season; they are away to Plymouth this weekend.

In their search for transfer targets, the Whites have been linked with a couple of names currently playing in the English top flight. The latest news from The i Paper is that Leeds are considering a move for Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff. The 27-year old has been a reliable rotation player for the magpies this season, playing 24 league games.

Longstaff was linked with a move to Manchester United back in 2019, but a £50million fee was not reasonable for the Red Devils. Now, the midfielder is a target for Daniel Farke as his side prepare for the Premier League.

What could Sean Longstaff offer Leeds?

Sean Longstaff is your prototypical Premier League midfielder – always available, never injured and can put in a shift in the middle of the park.

In his best two seasons on Tyneside, he has showed himself to be a solid midfielder. Longstaff has had eight goal involvements, and five goal involvements in his last two seasons. He could be a bargain signing depending on his market value.
