Leeds United eye shock move for Everton star – Joel Piroe replacement lined up

Leeds United are looking to boost their attack ahead of their return to the Premier League. After scoring 95 goals last season, the club will hope to try and repeat that in the top flight.

In recent weeks, there have been questions over Joel Piroe’s ability to play in the Premier League. The striker has scored over 30 league goals for the club since he arrived. He sometimes goes long spells without scoring, missing multiple chances. Piroe’s overall play has also been called into questions by fans sometimes.

The consensus however, is that Leeds cannot go into next season with just one recognized first team striker.

Patrick Bamford has been linked with a move away this summer. The 31-year old has served as the backup to Piroe over the past two seasons. However, his availability has been sketchy, leading to Mateo Joseph becoming a key part of the first team. In the Premier League next season, having Bamford and Joseph as backup strikers will not cut it.

This may be why the club are in the market for another option up top. According to Sky Sports, Leeds are eyeing a ‘surprise’ move for Everton striker Beto. The 27-year old has scored 10 Premier League goals over two seasons. He has the most league goals for the Toffees this season.

There is no news on if Everton would consider a deal for the striker, and no fee has been mentioned. Beto has two years left on his current deal at Goodison Park.

Beto is exactly the striker Leeds need

Beto is the ideal Premier League striker. For struggling sides, he provides value outside goal scoring. He has showed this at Everton since he arrived in England. The striker is strong in the air, wins his duels and is a nuisance to defenders across 90 minutes.

Beto has had 40 shots in the Premier League this season and 15 have come from headers. Leeds United have a decent crop of players who can put the ball in the box. The 26-year old can also play alongside another striker, making him flexible enough to be deployed in multiple systems.

Leeds United had 926 crosses in the Championship last season – the sixth highest in the division.
