Leeds United are still in the market, looking to wrap up their business this summer. The club have now played two pre-season friendlies.

They were held to a draw by Manchester United on the weekend, but beat German side SC Verl behind closed doors. Joel Piroe, Wilfried Gnonto and Lukas Nmecha were involved in the goals.

Fans are not allowed with the team in Germany because the authorities made a decision before pre-season began. The club will face Villarreal in their next friendly.

Solomon was a hot topic for discussion earlier this summer. But after a saga with Marseille, Leeds decided to cool off the player. Then reports came that he was looking to stay at Spurs. But now, it looks like the situation has changed.

Graeme Bailey believes that a move is still possible this summer:

“Leeds still really like Manor Solomon.

“I think there’s a very good chance after a couple of games once we get into the start of the season and Solomon sees he’s not first choice at Spurs and involved — I think we could see him at Leeds.

“Leeds still like him an awful lot, I think there’s a very good chance Solomon still ends up at Elland Road.

“For the sake of Leeds going for their second choice, they may as well hang on. They wanted Solomon and he’s not going to be particularly expensive. So I think he is in their minds.”

Igor Paixao transfer update

The latest on the Brazilian is that Marseille have not been able to agree a fee with Feyenoord.

After a series of meetings and talks, it looks like the French club’s offer does not meet Feyenoord’s demands. This has now opened the door for Leeds to swoop in and sign the Brazilian. The Whites have already been in touch with the player’s representatives.

Leeds need a winger with that ‘X-factor’

Dan James, Largie Ramazani and Wilfried Gnonto is a fine set of wide options. But there is the feeling that Leeds still need that player that can instantly turn a game on its head. Just like when Manor Solomon turned a seemingly simple pass in the box into the goal that won Leeds the Championship on the final day.

Whether it ends up being Solomon or Paixao, the club need to push for the signing.

Football has become a squad game and Leeds need as many players as possible. They will need impact subs and players to play in the various cups.

If it was a simple choice between Solomon and Paixao then it would be Paixao for me all day long. There is just something gold dust about this kid that I never saw in Solomon
